  • What is Psychotherapy?
    Psychotherapy is a broad term used to describe talk therapy that uses interventions to support clients improve their mental health. It is designed to treat multiple mental health illnesses as well as emotional distress.
  • How long does therapy take?
    Therapy can be as long as you feel it is helping, therapy is a process and it takes time to build trust, this happens organically. The natural termination process starts from day 1. I will work on preparing you to learn and use tools and skills on your own and will be honest in my recommendations for further treatment. It is ultimately your decision. Once it is determined that therapy will end, we will do less frequent sessions and check-in on how this feels before ending.
  • Will you give me advice?
    My approach is to be a guide in your process during therapy, you are the expert in your life and my job is to remain objective and point out things that may help you make decisions on your own.
  • Will you prescribe medication?
    No, I do not have a medical license to be able to prescribe medication. If you are interested and feel the need to get medication, I will do my best to refer you to a place that fits your needs.
  • Do I pay every session? Monthly?
    Yes, your session payment is due after every session. I can provide you with a monthly superbill (a receipt of the payments you have made) to take it to your insurance for reimbursement.
  • What if I cannot make it to a session? (Cancellation policy).
    All cancellations need to be done 24 hours in advance. There will be a $50 charge if it is considered a no-show.
  • Do you offer a sliding scale?
    No, at this time my rate is set to $180 per 45-50 min session. I am hoping that in the future I will be able to offer a sliding scale.
  • Do you have evening or weekend availability?
    I am available for sessions Monday or Thursday evenings from 6pm-8pm. I am currently not available during the weekends.
  • How do I schedule my appointments?
    I will always schedule the next appointment with you at the end of our sessions. If you need to cancel or reschedule you can email me at amparra@untangletherapy.com or call me at 301-458-0201.
  • How will the payments be made?
    You can make your payments through the patient portal using a credit card.
  • Do you take insurance?
    No, I am considered an out-of network provider.
  • Will the sessions be in person or virtual?
    All sessions are virtual using the Telehealth portal or app.
